Lycopene is a something that is found in some of the fruits and vegetables that are out there. Fruits like tomatoes are one of the major places to find lycopene. There have been studies that show the lycopene can fight off the onset of macular degeneration even if it is already begun. But a regular intake of lycopene can also reduce your risk of getting macular degeneration the first place.
It also helps to fight other visual disorders. You do not have to add very much lycopene to your diet in order to reap the benefits of it. In fact, if you just add a single tomato per day to your diet, you are going to notice a major difference when it comes to the early stages of macular degeneration and you will be preventing it from happening in the first place if you do not already have it.
