2. Smoking
is an addictive habit that causes shortness of breath and other health problems, including coronary heart disease. Some people don’t believe in second-hand smoking. With second-hand smoking, a person is still at risk of getting the disease. It has been reported that every year thousands of people who do not smoke die. Being exposed to tobacco smoke that has nicotine and other substances can trigger the disease.
Smoking is known to lower a person’s HDLs. They can enter the artery walls easily that over time will develop plaque that will build-up that causes coronary heart disease. Most smokers begin smoking at a young age and as they get older their risk of developing coronary heart disease continues to increase. It is even worse when smokers smoke multiple packs of cigarettes a day. Since some people don’t experience symptoms from coronary heart disease, a smoker or nonsmoker may have the disease and not even be aware of it. Smoking also increases the risk of having a heart attack.
