They are high in trans and saturated fats and sodium. They taste good, but consuming them can be hazardous for someone with nephrotic syndrome. With the condition, salt and water are accumulated in the body. If it has nowhere to go, it will cause the eyes, ankles, and feet to swell. It the feet and ankles swell up too bad it can cause a person to be unable to wear footwear.
Their blood pressure will rise and a person will have to take blood pressure medications to get their blood pressure back to where it needs to be. A person will also gain weight all over the body. Once the salty snacks are eliminated, a person will start to lose weight and their nephrotic syndrome can be managed better. If a person really wants a snack, choose unsalted popcorn, nuts, and potato chips.
