Search for Articles Here >>

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat? Women are more likely to experience this phenomenon than men as menopause is one of the main causes of these night sweats. However, night sweats may occur at any time and anyone may suffer from them.

Night sweats are described as severe sweating that occurs at night. It can drench your pajamas and your bedding. This abnormal sweating can be frustrating and annoying, but it is not harmful. However, night sweats can be the sign of an underlying medical condition.

There are several causes for night sweats including oscillating levels of estrogen. Some medical conditions that may cause night sweats include menopause and pregnancy in women, flu, infections, sleep apnea, tuberculosis, diabetes, cancer, hyperthyroidism, and HIV/AIDs.

If you do not have any type of medical issue and you are still suffering from night sweats, it could be from a cold, flu, anxiety, or from consumption of alcohol. Using certain medications may also cause you to have night sweats.

While there is no definitive treatment for night sweats, there are some natural cures that can help alleviate them. Here are 10 natural cures for night sweats that you may want to try. As always, it is important to discuss this issue with your doctor to rule out any underlying medical condition.

1. Sage

Sage is an herb that offers some properties that can help control excessive sweating. Sage works by reducing the activity of the sweat gland, which will mean that you sweat less during the night. Sage also has antibacterial properties that can remove the bacteria that may cause excessive sweating. It can also help remove body odor as it acts as a natural deodorant.

To use sage as a cure for night sweats simply take 2 tsp of herbal sage and place in a cup of hot water. Boil for about 15 minutes and then strain. Drink this tea regularly for several months in order to help get rid of night sweats.
