2. Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe Vera has long been prized for its soothing effect on the skin. Applying the gel to your skin not only cools off the area but can also reduce itching and irritation and even act as an antibacterial to fight infection. There are many products on the market that claim to be made of aloe vera gel, but many of these contain only a small portion from the actual plant.
Your best bet is to purchase actual aloe leaves from a health food store and squeeze the gel from the plant directly onto your hives. The plant has a pointy appearance, is dark green and has thick leaves containing gel. Let the gel sink in for 30 minutes and wash off with cool water. Aloe vera gel is effective for soothing hives because it contains B-sitosterol, which is an anti-inflammatory agent as well as vitamin E which promotes general skin health.
