14 Foods You Should Avoid With Pyelonephritis

Search for Articles Here >>

Pyelonephritis affects more than 200,000 Americans each year. It considered a urinary tract infection that starts in the bladder or urethra and goes to one or both kidneys.

When you have pyelonephritis it is important to seek medical treatment because if you don’t it can damage your kidneys and be life-threatening. When you seek medical attention, you will have to take blood and urine tests. In order to treat pyelonephritis, it requires hospitalization and antibiotics. It can be treated and cleared within days or weeks. It just depends on how severe the condition is.

When you have this, you will have to change your diet. You won’t be able to eat the same foods that the other members of your household are eating. If you eat these foods, they’ll make the condition much worse. Here are eight foods you should avoid when dealing with pyelonephritis. Your body will thank you in the end.

1. Dark colas are full of calories, sugar, and additives.

One additive that colas contain is phosphorous. It is absorbed in the body. Phosphorous is full of salt and the more you drink it, the more your kidneys will become affected. This isn’t good when you have pyelonephritis because you are not gaining any nutrients.

Dark colas kill the kidneys, especially if you drink them every single day. When you drink them, your kidneys are getting weaker and weaker. It is better to drink clear soft drinks if you must have a soda. Soda, in general, should be avoided when you have pyelonephritis. Drink plenty of water every single day.

It is recommended that you drink eight glasses of water a day, but you can use your own judgment on how much you need to drink. You don’t want to drink too much water because that’s not good for your kidneys either.
