3. Numbness
When the bones break or are pushed out of alignment, it can cause nerves to become pinched and numb. A buckle fracture may only affect one side of the bone, but if there is a nerve in the area affected it can cause a lack of sensation. Loss of blood flow to the nerves from a buckle fracture can also cause the area around the injury to become numb. Buckle fractures by their very nature result in massive amounts of swelling and bruising.
This swelling can cause too much pressure to be placed on the nerves which can cause numbness to develop. Lack of feeling paired with deformity are clear symptoms of buckle fractures.
Acute trauma such as a sudden buckle fracture, or a complex buckle fracture can cause a person to go into shock. When a person goes into shock, it can cause numbness in the location of the injury or over the whole body.
