4. Discoloration of the digits
Breaking your arms or legs is much easier and common than you may realize. If you have suffered an injury to the arms or legs and noticed that your fingers or toes have altered colors either right away, or after a day or so, chances are the nerves are damaged and the bone is broken. A typical symptom of a buckle fracture is discoloration of the fingers or toes. This can be a result of deep bruising, swelling, or because a vein has become pinched between the joints.
Anytime that you suffer an injury to your extremities that results in discolored digits, you should seek medical treatment. Discolored digits can mean that there is a damaged nerve or vein that needs to be corrected in order to heal properly.
In some cases, discolored digits may mean that instead of a simple fracture, you may be suffering from a compound fracture or a shattered bone.
