3. Fever
A fever is the body’s natural reaction to infection or illness, and it’s an attempt to raise the body temperature up to the point where it’s no longer an ideal habitat for infection. Even though it’s useful, a fever can also be just as dangerous at the same time, and it can increase your risk of having a heart attack or stroke – and a high-grade fever for too long puts your body under a huge amount of strain.
It’s usually one of the first signs that you’re sick, and even when it might not point towards whooping cough, it can point towards another infection in the body. Take note of the symptoms that you’ve been experiencing and make an appointment with your doctor to establish the cause and proper treatment from there.
There are many great ways to complement your doctor’s prescribed treatment, too: Natural immune-boosting drinks can also sometimes help to reduce a fever – and willow-bark tea contains natural fever-breaking compounds.
