The pharmacist can suggest over-the-counter medicines, but the medicines won’t work with listeria. If diarrhea becomes so bad, the individual will have to stay home from work. Once it gets that bad, seeking medical treatment is important. Diarrhea shouldn’t be a long-term issue. Your primary care doctor can take blood tests to let you know if you have any serious illnesses. If you don’t get treated soon, you may need to be hospitalized. You will more than likely stay in the hospital until it goes away.
