2. Manuka Honey

Honey has many potent antimicrobial properties. One type of honey, called manuka honey comes from bees that feed on the manuka bush. This type of honey is known for having several potent antibacterial properties. There are many factors at work that help the honey inhibit microbes and fight off infections. These include a high amount of sugar, low water content, phytochemicals, and hydrogen peroxide.

In addition, manuka honey also contains a compound known as dihydroxyacetone. This compound produces methylglyoxal, which is a chemical that has antibacterial properties. It has been found that manuka honey is effective when it comes to the staphylococcus bacteria. To use manuka honey to treat a staph infection you will want to create a dressing with the manuka honey. Make sure to purchase medical-grade honey to use. Keep the honey over the infection for as long as possible as it will help to heal the wound and keep it free from infections.
