3. Massage castor oil onto the knee is a natural remedy for an ACL tear.
Warm a teaspoon of castor oil in a cup and pour it into hands. The castor oil shouldn’t be hot. Massage it onto the knee gently for a minute or two. Cover the knee with a clean dishcloth.
With a heating pad or blanket, place it on top of the dishcloth and let it sit there for about 30 minutes. This can be done a few times a day. This will help to relax the muscles and reduce the pain. Your leg should be elevated when doing this with two pillows underneath your knee.
You don’t have to straighten your knee completely out because that can cause more pain. After 30 minutes, take the heating pad or blanket off and dishcloth and put it to the side. Keep your knee elevated and if you have to get up, take your time.
