4. Herniated Disc
A herniated disc is no joke. There have been so many people over the years who have claimed to have slipped a disc, without fully knowing what the term means. When a person slips a disc or herniates a disc, the fluid inside the disc escapes through a small burst in the material.
Discs act as suspension between the vertebrae in the spine, and whilst they are incredibly supple and flexible, sudden injury or injury over time can cause them to rupture and leak. A herniated disc in the upper part of the back is much less common than a herniation in the lower back or the neck, but it can occur.
Usually, a herniated disc is only diagnosed following MRI imaging and the subsequent reports. When someone herniates a disc, the pain can range from mildly annoying to utterly debilitating. Interestingly though, it does seem that any pain caused through disc herniation is extremely variable from one person to the next.
