Your saliva allows your food to move out of your mouth and through the esophagus. Many people have dry mouth when they take certain medicines. Certain medicines have side effects that are out of our control. When you have a dry mouth, it is good to suck on candy or use a dry mouth rinse. Drinking water will help a dry mouth as well. Caffeine isn’t going to help a dry mouth.
Other health issues can cause a dry mouth. Remind your doctor if you are having this problem because he or she can conduct tests to see what health problems you are having. The same thing when it comes to medications.
The doctor can find other medications that won’t cause a dry mouth. It’ll become easier for you to swallow once the problem is dealt with. Don’t take too many over-the-counter medicines for dry mouth until you speak with your doctor.
