2. Drug Abuse
There have been some patients with a fear of long words who become drug abusers as a result of the phobia. You might be wondering how the two would correlate to one another seeing as there’s obvious about the phobia that would make those affected use drugs. What you might not realize is that those who suffer from the condition have to deal with constant fear on a daily basis.
There are quite a few patients with the condition who can’t deal with it themselves and turn to narcotics for relief. They report that the use of narcotics can reduce the severity of their phobia by calming their minds. That being said, regardless of whether or not it actually works, the reliance on drugs to relieve the symptoms associated with the phobia can lead to long-term drug abuse. If someone has difficulties reading and abuses narcotics then it may be a symptom of their fear of long words.
