2. Malabsorption
Some people who suffer from certain diseases, such as coeliac disease, can have a malabsorption problem with folic acid. This means that because of these diseases, you may not be able to absorb folic acid which in turn can cause a folate deficiency. Finding out what disease you are suffering from and ways to treat it is your first step in your body starting to absorb folic acid a little better.
Coeliac disease is a disease in your small intestines that makes it become inflamed and not able to absorb the nutrients your body needs. Not only can this disease cause you to become folate deficient but it can also cause you to suffer from other symptoms including bloating, diarrhea, and even pain in your abdomen. So if you start having these symptoms excessively, you should see a doctor and get the disease diagnosed which could be in turn causing you to suffer from folate deficiency as well.
