15 Main Causes of Blurred Vision

Search for Articles Here >>

One of the most common problems that people face with their eyesight is a vision that becomes unfocused, unclear, or blurry. Most of the time, blurry vision is not much to worry about. The blurriness may be caused by something as simple as a need for an updated prescription for your contacts or glasses.

However, there are times when blurry or fuzzy vision is a signal that there is something more serious wrong. For this reason, it is important to make sure that you investigate what is causing your vision to be blurry. Knowing why your vision has gone blurry can be the difference in getting the right treatment or not. Sight is a very valued sense, but there are still many issues that can fall through the cracks, which is why it is important to discuss these symptoms with your doctor.

Here are 8 main causes of blurred vision to consider.

1. Corrective Lenses

There are several issues with your eyes that can cause blurry vision. Hyperopia or farsightedness, myopia or nearsightedness, and astigmatism are all refractive errors that can cause a person to have blurry vision. These conditions occur when the curvature of the eye blocks the light that is focused on the retina.

The retina is what is responsible for processing light rays into the signals that can be read by the brain. Refractive errors are quite common and fortunately are fairly easy to fix. Most of the time all you will need is corrective lenses in either the form of glasses or contacts.

An optometrist or ophthalmologist can test your vision to determine the right prescription to help correct your vision. Another option is LASIK eye surgery. This option can change the cornea shape permanently in order to correct the issue. Surgery is not something that can be done for everyone but is a great option for many people.
