Drinking various kinds of tea with honey has been shown in a study to reduce the risk of infection with Heliobacter pylori bacteria. According to a study in the journal Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, drinking green or black tea with honey was shown to prevent the development of the bacteria through a breath test.
In addition to green and black teas showing some effectiveness against gastritis, chamomile tea is a traditional remedy for gastritis, because of its anti-inflammatory properties and antibacterial properties. It also has a calming effect, and reduction of stress can also be helpful for gastritis patients.
Other herbal teas that can be helpful for this condition include goldenseal, licorice, and marshmallow. Adding honey to tea can add an extra boost in easing gastritis symptoms because honey has long been used to fight infections of all kinds.
