2. Hypercalcemia
Hypercalcemia is a serious condition that occurs when there is too much calcium in the blood. While our bodies need adequate amounts of calcium to function, too much can be harmful. One of the common symptoms of someone who may be suffering from calciphylaxis is the presence of Hypercalcemia. People suffering from Hypercalcemia often experience high quantities of kidney stones and weak bones. Hypercalcemia also has a negative effect on the brain and heart.
Too much calcium in the blood can make it hard for your kidneys to properly function, this can lead to a wide range of other complications aside from Hypercalcemia itself. The parathyroid glands are tasked with regulating the amount of calcium in your blood, when these glands become overactive it can result in the development of Hypercalcemia.
If you have been diagnosed with this condition, it is a good idea to have your doctor check for calciphylaxis as well.
