Feeling tired is a common problem that people face on a regular basis. In fact, it has been reported that one-third of the population suffers from tiredness. Things that you do to yourself can cause a feeling of being tired. When you feel tired on a regular basis, it will keep you from doing things that are of importance to you, such as completing your schoolwork or working. It can cause you to be late for appointments because it took you longer to get out of bed, take a shower, and make breakfast. This can cause you to lose your job or get behind in school work.

A lot of times when you are feeling tired, it can make you forget things. You may know what you have to do, but in a second, you will forget what it was. You can misplace items as well.

There are eight frequent causes of why you may be always tired.

1. Medications are a frequent cause of why you may be always tired.

Over-the-counter and prescription medications can cause you to have a tired feeling. It is important to take medications before you go to bed instead of during the daytime. When a person is in pain or having a headache, he or she may take a double dose of Tylenol. The Tylenol may have a different effect on the person and cause him or her to become tired.

The same thing applies to prescription medications. The doctor will advise the person to take the medication at night, but sometimes the person doesn’t want to wait. If it’s a pain medication, the person may decide to take it anyways. If they are at work or school, he or she may try to fight the tiredness feeling, but it won’t work. This can become dangerous if the person is driving and decides to take medications that cause tiredness.

2. Inadequate amount of sleep at nighttime.

A person will always be tired during the daytime if it’s difficult to sleep at night. During the daytime, the person will dose off for a minute and wake up because he or she didn’t get enough sleep the night before. By sleeping in the daytime, at night, it will be difficult to sleep. Some ways you can go to sleep at night are keeping the television on low, turn the radio on, or drink a warm beverage. You may not go to sleep right away, but in 30 minutes, you should become tired.

During the daytime, you will be able to function because you got enough sleep. In order for this to work, you’ll need to do this every night. Another thing you can do is make the room comfortable by turning the air-conditioner or heat to a comfortable setting that way you can sleep all through the night.

3. Living a sedentary lifestyle is a frequent cause of why you may be always tired.

By sitting all of the time, it can make you feel tired. Stand up and walk around for a few minutes before sitting back down. Do this routine every 30 minutes. Another thing you can do is start exercising. The exercise doesn’t have to be high-impact. It can be simple as walking 30 minutes every day. Once you master 30 minutes, slowly increase your time by five minutes until you’re able to walk an hour at least four to five days a week. When it’s raining, you can walk in place.

You will notice that you will sleep better and feel refreshed in the morning. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. You don’t have to walk the stairs fast. You may be tempted to use the elevator since it may take your breath away, but fight through it.

4. Eating not enough calories is a cause for you to always be tired.

You need to eat at least 1,200 calories a day. Older adults need to take in more calories in order for their bodies to function. When you eat too few calories, your metabolism slows down, so that energy is conserved. This will cause you to gain weight even if you’re trying to lose weight. It is difficult to get your daily mineral and vitamin needs when you eat few calories.

The body needs adequate Vitamin D on a daily basis. It is important to use a calorie counter to find out how many calories you need to consume on a daily basis. This is based on age, gender, height, and weight. Even if you’re trying to lose weight, the calorie counter should tell you how many calories you need. The daily number of calories you need shouldn’t be under 1,200 calories.

5. Going to sleep at the wrong time may be a cause for you always being tired.

When you suffer from tiredness, you usually go to bed at the wrong time. You’ll lay in bed and stay awake most of the night, especially if something is good on television or having a good conversation on the telephone. By going to bed too late and getting up early in the morning, you’ll feel tired in the morning because you didn’t the right amount of sleep.

A person should get between seven to eight hours of sleep a night. It doesn’t count if you wake up several times a night. If you have to go to work or school early in the morning, it’s best to go to bed early. For instance, if you have to be up to go to work at 6:30 a.m., you should go to bed between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. to be able to get up at 5:00 a.m.

6. An inadequate amount of daily protein is a frequent cause of why you may be always tired.

It has been shown that people who eat protein with every meal, are less likely to feel tired. It is important to eat high-quality protein, such as fish, eggs, and beans. By eating lots of protein, you’ll lose weight. Your metabolism will rise because of your intake of protein on a daily basis. Even though, you need to eat protein at every meal, try to stay away from fast food options, such as hamburgers and hot dogs. If you must eat fast food, go to a restaurant that has healthy options.

When you exercise and use weights, it is important to eat protein afterward. Don’t eat protein bars or shakes. They are full of high fructose, which will cause you to gain weight. They may be quick options, but they’re not good for you. It is best to eat a healthy protein sandwich.

""

7. An inadequate amount of water is another cause for you to be always tired.

It is important to drink the amount of water based on your weight and age on a daily basis. When you exercise, urinated, and make stools, you lose a lot of water. It is important to replace that water to stay hydrated. When you become dehydrated, it will cause you to be tired all of the time. Sodas and ice tea can’t replace your daily intake of water. They are full of sugar, which can cause you to become dehydrated.

In order to be sure you get enough water, carry bottled water with you wherever you go. You may have to use the restroom more often, but your body will stay hydrated. It is a good idea to stop drinking water at a certain time of the evening because if you don’t, you’ll be up all night in the restroom instead of sleeping.

""

8. High levels of stress may be the cause of you always feeling tired.

Stress uses up your energy, which will make you tired. It is difficult to avoid stress, but there are things you can do to decrease stress. You can do yoga and meditate on a regular basis. You don’t have to go into a class. Yoga and meditation can be done at home. Make sure when you do these, do them in a quiet room. Any noise will cause more stress and you won’t be able to relax.

Some people go to a mental health specialist to help them get control of their stressful lives. It can help, if the person goes once a week. Only going once a month will not help the person. Also, they are known for prescribing medications that have a good or bad effect on a person. It can cause tiredness during the day. It is up to the person if he or she wants to take medication.

""

9. Kidney disease and malfunction can cause you to feel tired.

The kidneys act as the body’s main filtration system for any toxins that enter the body and need to pass through. This means that the kidneys have one of the most important jobs in the entire body, and if your kidneys aren’t happy right now, the rest of your body won’t be either.

There are plenty of different conditions and symptoms that could be triggered by kidney malfunction or disease. Many of these have nothing to do with your kidneys at all and can easily be mistaken for symptoms of something else.

Feeling lethargic or tired is one of the most common symptoms of kidney disease. It might also be accompanied by other symptoms such as back pain or issues with vision.

While all of these symptoms might seem unrelated, they can all be tied together to your kidneys.

""

10. Sometimes diabetes can cause lethargy or tiredness.

Diabetes is a condition that can be diagnosed in several different types including type I, type II and a rarer, so far often misunderstood the third form of the condition that usually only occurs when pregnant and then disappears after this.

Symptoms of diabetes include frequent urination, negative effects on the body’s ability to process sugar and it can even lead to much more serious symptoms such as slipping into a coma when the medication to control the condition is not available and the body has been pushed too far.

Symptoms such as tiredness are also commonly associated with diabetes. If you experience any other symptoms together with tiredness, see your doctor as soon as possible.

If you have an existing family history of the condition, you are a smoker or you are overweight, these are all factors that can increase your risk of developing diabetes and should warrant more caution and more regular doctor’s appointments.

""

11. Serious underlying heart conditions can cause tiredness.

Tiredness is a symptom that can be frequently associated with a range of different heart conditions. The heart is meant to carry blood flow throughout the body, and when it can’t do this properly, the body is likely to react with several different symptoms of which tiredness is one.

If you have any history of underlying heart conditions in your family (even if they were never properly diagnosed or treated) then you should see your doctor because you are at an increased risk.

Also, see your doctor (and a nutritional specialist) where any heart conditions can be combined with a high-fat unhealthy diet that could put your heart at risk.

Where you’re able to sort out any issues with your diet or heart that might be causing your tiredness (sometimes with the use of medication such as beta-blockers) it’s likely that the symptom of tiredness will disappear with enough time.

""

12. An underlying infection in the body can sometimes cause permanent tiredness.

If you notice that you are permanently tired and none of the other potential causes for it on this list appear to match with what could be wrong, it could be likely that you have and underlying (or recurring) infection in your body that’s affecting everything else.

Sometimes it’s obvious that you have an infection – for example, where you can clearly see that a wound or cut has become infected. Other times the signs of infection might not be as obvious and might hideaway in the body without any outward symptoms that signal infection.

Infections that do most of their work unseen can have just as much of a disastrous effect on your body as infections that you can see, and tiredness is only one of the associated symptoms that you might experience.

Where you are able to combine fatigue with other symptoms such as a permanent fever, see your doctor.

""

13. Dietary issues can sometimes be known to lead to tiredness.

There is a range of different dietary and gut-related issues that can also lead to tiredness as a permanent symptom. A lot of the processes in your body are totally reliant on the nutrients that you take in – and if your diet isn’t making the cut, then your body will respond with related symptoms that might include tiredness and are very likely to include other symptoms too.

What causes this?

First, sometimes you might follow a diet that doesn’t contain enough of the nutrients that you need in order to stay healthy. Where this is not the case, it’s likely that you might have another underlying gut condition that’s causing symptoms like absorption issues.

The list of potential gut conditions that have tiredness and nutrient absorption issues listed as symptoms is vast. This is why the first thing you should do is see your doctor for a proper diagnosis.

""

14. Neck injuries can cause conditions that lead to tiredness.

If you have recently been involved in any kind of accident where you might have injured your neck or your head, then tiredness might be an associated symptom due to a neck, back or internal organ injury. Tiredness is also a common symptom that you might experience after an accident due to a concussion.

If you should notice any tiredness as a symptom after you have been in a serious accident, see your doctor for the proper tests even where you don’t think that you have been injured. Shock can often hide many of the effects of a traumatic event, including initial injuries, which might only become painful after the adrenaline rush of the shock has somewhat worn off.

Neck injuries can also sometimes happen gradually or in smaller ways, and might cause the same damage as if an impact were to happen, but might be missed because they occur in different ways than your traditional car accident.
