gut flora and thereby help to reduce signs of rosacea.

What many people don’t realize, is that bacteria aren’t all bad for us. In fact, our guts contain a huge variety of bacteria, much of which is actually very beneficial for us and responsible for a number of important functions. This bacteria may help with the production of digestive enzymes to help us digest and absorb our food and nutrients, or it may help to produce hormones and neurotransmitters that can improve our mood.

What’s more, is that this healthy bacteria can actually combat the bad bacteria that cause damage. One study trialed a drug called rifaximin (an antibiotic) and found that this had a 96% response rate – by reducing the outgrowth of specific flora. The aim is not to destroy all bacteria, but to provide the correct healthy balance in the gut.
