While dandelions are pretty flowers, many gardeners consider them invasive species that require removal from the garden. After the dandelion sheds its yellow petals, it starts to develop unique white seed stems within days.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These white seed stems blow off the plant in high wind conditions, falling to the earth in nearby areas. It\u2019s for this reason that many gardeners find it hard to control the spread of the flowers. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While dandelions may be a gardener\u2019s worst nightmare, they offer plenty of medicinal benefits when consumed internally. Dandelions have mild analgesic properties that assist in pain relief, making them a valuable addition to supplements and health products that treat sore muscles or aches and pains. Here are eight health benefits of dandelion.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Bring some water to a boil, then let it cool for two minutes. Pack the dandelions in the mason\u2019s jar, then pour in the water. Let the flowers infuse for 10-minutes, then strain the tea and drink. Store the tea in the fridge for use as a tonic.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dandelion tea is excellent to add to your detoxification protocol. The polyphenols found in the flowers detoxify the bloodstream and help to increase metabolic rate, solving issues of fatigue, sluggishness, and acne associated with a slow metabolism. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dandelion tea has laxative properties, so make sure you don\u2019t drink too much of it on your first experience with the tea, or you might be running to the bathroom for the duration of the morning.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Our next favorite use for dandelion flowers is as an infused oil. Dandelions make an excellent treatment for digestive issues and enhance the health of the immune system. Infused Oil allows you to reap the benefits of the antioxidant polyphenols <\/a>found in dandelions \u2013 in a concentrated format.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make dandelion infused oil, you\u2019ll need a few ounces of dandelion flowers, along with a carrier oil for the infusion. We like to use extra-virgin olive Oil for our infusion, as we feel olive Oil is an excellent source of monounsaturated fats that are fantastic for your health.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take a mason jar and fill it with the flowers. Pour in the Oil and seal the jar. Leave the mason jar in the sunlight for a few weeks to allow for a natural infusion of the polyphenols from the dandelions into the carrier oil. Shake the jar once a day for the duration of the infusion. You\u2019ll know the oil is ready when it starts to develop a dark orange color when you hold it up to the sunlight.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

3.   Dandelion Salve<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dandelion oil has many health benefits, and it\u2019s the building block for many other dandelion home remedies. One of our favorite solutions involves using dandelion oil to make a salve. Salves are an excellent topical treatment for soothing the effects of a burn, and they also act as a unique topical administration to keep cuts and wounds clean and free from bacterial or viral infection.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make the dandelion salve, you\u2019ll first need to mix a batch of the infused Oil as mentioned above. Take two ounces of beeswax<\/a> and melt them over low heat on the stove. Add an ounce of dandelion oil and mix until blended. Pour the salve into jars and let it cool. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use the salve as a topical ointment for treating cuts, scrapes, and burns, and it also has a use for hydrating cracked lips and heels. The anti-inflammatory properties of dandelion provide relief from aching and painful joints, rub some salve on the problematic joint, and you should notice relief from your pain symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

4.   Dandelion Lotion Bars<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The analgesic properties of dandelion make it ideal for relieving the symptoms of pain and discomfort associated with handling rough items or repetitive stress<\/a> on the hands. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can make dandelion soap using a soap formula, some dandelion tea, and dandelion-infused Oil. Many health and beauty product manufacturers offer dandelion-infused soaps you can buy off the shelf. However, we find that making some yourself allows you to control the concentration of oil and tea to your preference.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The soap smells lovely, and it\u2019s excellent for use as a hand soap or a body scrub formula. You can even add the infused oil into your shampoo to help deal with the effects of eczema on the scalp.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

6.   Dandelion Infused Vinegar<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Infusing vinegar with dandelion has both medicinal and culinary applications. You can choose to mix dandelions with apple cider vinegar for therapeutic purposes or blend it with balsamic to add to salads and other meals.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dandelions come packed with vital minerals such as magnesium<\/a>, potassium, iron, and calcium. One of the best ways to extract these minerals from the plant matter \u2013 is by soaking the dandelions in vinegar. To create your vinegar, take a mason jar and fill it two-thirds of the way with dandelion flo0wers.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour the balsamic or ACV on top of the flowers and let them soak for 4 to 6-weeks to absorb all of the beneficial minerals and polyphenols into the vinegar. Remove the jar from storage and strain the plant matter, then bottle the vinegar in a glass mason jar. Store in a dark cupboard at room temperature. Most vinegar infusions will last for up to a year if you store them correctly. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

 7.  Dandelion Tincture<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can use dandelions to make a potent tincture. Tinctures contain either alcohol<\/a> or Oil, and they have a use in preventative medicine. A dandelion tincture is excellent for reducing systemic inflammation in the body. Place a few drops on your tongue a few times each day, and you\u2019ll reap the health benefits of dandelions. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We like to make dandelions tincture using an alcohol extraction method. The final amount of alcohol is insignificant, and you don\u2019t have to worry about it making you feel drunk. If you are allergic to alcohol or cannot consume it due to religious purposes, then try making a tincture using the vinegar methods described above. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make your tincture, place dandelions in a mason jar and cover them with a cup of 90-proof vodka. The alcohol extracts the minerals and polyphenols from the dandelions, holding them in suspension in the vodka. Leave the tincture for 6-weeks for an intense concentration.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

8.   Dandelion Manuka Honey<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We saved our favorite idea for last. Dandelions-infused honey <\/a>tastes amazing. If you\u2019re a fan of honey, then you\u2019ll love this idea. For our dandelion honey, we like to use Manuka. Manuka honey originates from the Manuka tree in New Zealand. Bees collect the dark sap from the tree and return it to the hive. As a result, Manuka honey is very dark in color, almost brown. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raw, unfiltered Manuka honey is a potent anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory food. The enzymes and beneficial bacteria found in the honey have a host of health benefits. We like consuming it in some goldenseal tea for a beverage that helps to enhance digestion.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure you choose the unfiltered brand of raw honey for your infusion. Start by removing the stems and green bits from the dandelions. Pack them into a mason jar and add the honey. Leave it to infuse in a dark cupboard for 6-weeks. Heat the honey and strain it through a cheesecloth to remove the flowers.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

9. Scandinavian Dandelion Syrup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While dandelion has many health benefits, we bet you never thought it would make a tasty syrup?
Seeing the dandelions blowing in the wind in your yard, most people see a problem, not a solution.
Harvesting the dandelions instead of poisoning them gives you plenty of ways to use them to
enhance your health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Scandinavian
dandelion syrup<\/a> is one of our favorite uses for our dandelion harvest. There is an
old Danish recipe for dandelion syrup that tastes absolutely delicious. Here\u2019s what you need to make
some of the best-tasting syrup you\u2019ll ever have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


You\u2019ll need around 70 dandelions for this recipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Scandinavian Dandelion Syrup<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\uf0b7 Chop up the 70 dandelions.
\uf0b7 Add a liter of water to a pot and set it to a boil.
\uf0b7 Add 500-grams of brown sugar or treacle sugar to the water.
\uf0b7 Add the juice of one lemon to the water.
\uf0b7 Let the mixture simmer for 30-minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Remove the pot from the water and strain the ingredients through a cheesecloth into a mason jar.
Return the mixture to the pot and boil for three minutes, stirring all the time. After it thickens to a
sticky consistency, pour it back into the mason jar, and let it cool down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

10. Dandelion Magnesium Lotion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re making cupcakes, adding some dandelion flower to the baked treat gives it a different

When you\u2019re using dandelion in your baking, take it slow to start. The greens can have a somewhat

refreshing on a hot day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


You get a tasty dose of
polyphenols <\/a>and micronutrients that beats anything you could get from a
store-bought ice tea. Choose to make a dandelion-based ice tea, or add the dandelion as a flavor
component to your favorite peach or lemon tea recipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The flavor in the dandelion is delicious once you acquire a taste for it. So, we recommend beginners
start with adding the dandelion to their existing tea recipes before trying it solo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take the chopped dandelions and add them to a
