4. Technology
Apraxia can affect not only speech but can have implications for the development of motor skills. However, some types are mainly confined to speech, and if this is the case, devices can be quite useful in helping people with apraxia communicate more effectively.
There is a wide range of apps and devices that can either simulate voice or allow people with apraxia to communicate spontaneously through the written word. There are even ways people can communicate through voice by moving their eyes, or at least, one can find devices that can correct speech errors simultaneously with speech.
There are many ways to create a voice that can be used for phone calls and even while doing simple errands such as grocery shopping. This technology is no replacement for physical therapy that can strengthen the vocal organs, but these devices can help.
