5. Headache
Headaches are commonly associated with a diagnosis of HELLP syndrome, and many pregnant women who are diagnosed with the condition during their pregnancy will also experience headaches during this period – and the headaches will vary in severity depending on individual cases. While there are some cases that don’t experience the headaches at all, it’s common enough to be seen in the majority.
Remember that experiencing headaches during pregnancy don’t necessarily mean an automatic diagnosis of HELLP syndrome, and liver tests (through a simple blood test) will likely have to be done in order to establish what has been causing symptoms; there are many other things that can potentially cause headaches, especially during pregnancy, and the medical team will first have to work in order to track down what could be the cause.
Headaches can often be symptomatically controlled and aren’t always caused by chronic medical conditions with such severe symptoms.
