7. End-Stage Renal Disease
When your kidneys are damaged, they are not functioning well as they should be. Damaged kidneys can allow too much protein to leak into your urine, it is called proteinuria as well stated above. When the condition progresses as time goes by, it can be a sign of chronic kidney disease or the late stage of kidney damage, called end-stage renal disease. The kidneys filter waste and excess water from your blood as urine.
Chronic kidney disease can cause your kidneys to lose the filtering function over time. End-stage kidney disease is the final stage of chronic kidney disease that means your kidneys no longer function well enough to meet the needs of your daily life. End-stage kidney disease is also called end-stage renal disease (ESRD) which means the kidneys of people with this kind of disease function below 10 percent of their normal ability, which may mean they’re barely functioning or not functioning at all.
