Participating in certain types of athletics can definitely contribute towards hip flexor injuries. Within the athletics where you are required to raise your leg above your hip, you are at risk for this type of injury.
Luckily, the types of athletics that required this sort of activity are few and far between. However, for those that do require it, participants need to make sure that they’ve warmed up thoroughly before each practice or match, and treat themselves with warm or cold patches each night when they go home.
These simple steps will prevent the majority of hip flexor injuries from happening in the first place. You can either put some ice cubes in a towel and hold them to the hip flexors in order to relieve tension and inflammation or you can do the same thing with heat.
