5. Pain in the Bone
Osteomyelitis is a very serious health condition that happens when an infection, which is commonly either staphylococcus or salmonella, enters the body (or is already present in the body from a previous illness and infection) and then from there travels through to the body until it gets to the bone. There are several different risk factors that can make you more likely to develop osteomyelitis, including a generally lowered immune system, high blood pressure, obesity, or an underlying infection that has been present for a long time – recent injury can also increase your risk.
Because of the nature of the condition, pain in the bone which either radiates, stabs, or pulses is considered one of the most common signs that bone infection such as osteomyelitis is present – and if this symptom occurs with any others, an appointment with your doctor is the next best course of action for best health.
