5. Fatigue Related Causes
Extensive fatigue that lasts throughout the day is a typical symptom of the disease. Studies show that more than 80-percent of patients with myasthenia gravis experience feelings of fatigue which range from mild to intense as the disease progresses.
Fatigue dramatically affects the quality of life in those affected. Feeling tired all the time means you’re less productive at work and less enthusiastic about things in your social life. Unlike other symptoms of the disease, such as muscular weakness, fatigue has no treatment – and using stimulants to increase the alertness of the mind, has little effect.
Constant fatigue is a sign of weakness in the immune system. However, recent studies suggest that the addition of regular exercise to the routines of patients suffering from myasthenia gravis significantly reduces feelings of fatigue throughout the day. Individuals suffering from the disease can arrange physical therapy sessions to teach them how to stretch and exercise within their physical capacity.
