Search for Articles Here >>

Folate deficiency, or folic acid deficiency and otherwise also known as vitamin B9, can cause problems with your body. It is one of the many important vitamins responsible for cell metabolism. Folate or folic acid also plays an important role in creating DNA, RNA, and proteins that are needed for our bodies.

Folate is very important for regulating the creation of red blood cells. When you are deficient in it, you can have an increase in poisonous metabolites.

You can get folate in your body by eating many different leafy green vegetables and some animal products. Many people who eat a well-balanced and healthy diet normally get enough folate in their food sources. However, there are also those who are pregnant or breastfeeding that require more folate and when this happens, a deficiency will occur.

There are many different symptoms of folate deficiency. Keep reading to learn all about the signs and symptoms of folate deficiency.

1. Feeling tired a lot

If you are feeling tired, weak, and lethargy too often, this could be a sign of folate deficiency. If you start feeling this symptom, it is time to see a doctor. Your doctor will be able to run some tests to determine if your weak and tired feeling may be caused by folate deficiency. If it is, he or she will be able to help you figure out what to do to bring it back to normal.

Being tired a lot could also be a symptom of something else entirely. It is just one of the many symptoms to watch out for when trying to determine whether or not you have folate deficiency. However, this is why it is important to see your doctor so he or she can rule out whatever it isn’t to determine what it truly is. This way you will be on the first step in treating the folate deficiency.
