10. Oil Pulling
Oil pulling describes an age-old medicinal technique used in traditional medicine around the world. With oil pulling, you’re relying on a high-quality oil like extra-virgin coconut oil to do the work. By rubbing the oil on the sores in your mouth and skin, the oil pulls the virus cells and toxins from the tissues.
Regular administration of coconut oil to the affected area reduces inflammation and pain while preventing the infection from spreading. The sore will stop growing in size, and the intensity of the discomfort in the mouth and on the skin will abate.
Technically, oil pulling is an “Ayurvedic” medicinal method, and many people still use it for good oral hygiene practices. You can use any high-grade oil, like olive oil or avocado oil, for the task. Take a tablespoon or two and swish it around in your mouth, but don’t swallow.
Spit it out after rinsing, and repeat throughout the day for best results. After spitting out the water, try not to swallow any oil. Keep a glass of water nearby the sink and spit out any remaining oil.
