5. Read Labels and Avoid Foods with Hidden Sugar
Make sure that you are reading all of your food labels because sugar could be hiding in things that seem like they would have no sugar at all. Avoiding foods that have sugar is challenging at first, but once you learn which foods have them it is fairly easy to avoid them.
Some examples of foods that have a disproportionately large amount of sugar include multigrain bread, which most people consider very healthy, cereals like raisin bran, tomato soup, yogurt with fruit in it, vanilla almond milk, some types of instant oatmeal and sports drinks. The best thing to do is get into the habit of reading food labels and looking for the sugar content so that you can avoid it is much as possible. Sugar is everywhere so you may not be able to avoid it completely though.
