5. Soak in hot water
The principle of a hot soak is the same as the paragraph above: heat will help relax the muscular fibers of your neck, and thus relieve the pain caused by excessive tension and/or contraction of muscles. A hot bath can work wonders with your neck pain, and also has many other beneficial properties. Fill up your bathtub with hot water and soak, making sure that your neck is covered up to your ears.
If you dissolve some salt in the water, it will help you relax because it will increase your flotability, so you need to make a lesser inconscious effort to stay afloat. If you don’t have access to a bathtub, you can use a hot shower too. Stand beneath the water and drop your head forwards, so the water hits your neck and flows down. The advantage of a hot shower is that the drops of water will gently massage your neck.
