4. Use heat
In some cases, using heat can help reduce or even relieve the pain in a muscle, and in some cases, what you need is the complete opposite, which is, cold. Cold helps with inflammation, which is often caused by an injury or a poor flow of liquids, while heat relieves muscular tension and helps these fibers relax. In the wide majority of cases, heat is what you need for your neck pain, because it is muscular tension that causes it.
You can apply heat from a variety of sources, but remember that, if it makes you feel worse instead of better, you should stop immediately. You can apply heat to your neck by using an electric pillow, or a towel wet in hot water. There are seed cushions, that are fantastic for this, and many come in the shape of a neck pillow; you pre heat it in the microwave oven and they are ready to use.
