The blood vessels become narrow, which makes it difficult for blood to get to the fingers and toes. Even in the summer, a person who smokes may be cold because there is not enough blood circulating to their fingers and toes.
They may have to wrap up even when others around them are hot. It’s even worse in the winter months, especially if they are not around enough heat to keep them warm. In order for them to stay warm, they will need to have layers and layers of blankets on their beds at night.
They may smoke more to get warm, but they don’t realize that smoking more is making the condition worse. Also, by smoking more, a person will not only have cold hands and fingers, but they may develop another condition known as heart disease.
