3. Hot and Cold Therapy
Infection of the middle ear causes symptoms of throbbing pain that intensify as the virus or bacteria reach critical mass in the ear. The infected person may feel that their ear gets warmer as the infection spreads throughout the region.
Other patients may experience headaches or migraines due to the infection, along with symptoms of fever and pain. Using a cold or warm compress to treat the symptoms as they arise is an excellent pain management strategy.
You’ll need to hand towels for this home remedy. Start your treatment by soaking a cloth in cold water, and wring it out. Place the towel in the fridge or freezer while you boil the kettle, then pour the boiling water over the towel. Wait a few seconds and wring it out – Remove the first towel from the fridge, and lie down on the couch. Place the warm towel on your forehead and cover the temples with the edges as well.
After the heat fades, place the cold towel on your forehead in the same manner. Repeat the treatment as needed for pain relief.
