4. Anorexia
The psychological condition known as anorexia, which has links to body dysmorphia and other mental health and eating disorders, has been found to have links with uremia.
In several studies of teenage girls living with anorexia, it was found that these people were up to 5 times more likely than anyone else to develop uremia. The reasons for this are unclear, however, the implications can be very negative and hugely detrimental to a person’s physical and mental health.
Looking in the mirror and seeing an overweight person, when actually you are severely underweight can be extremely difficult to manage. It can also be an extremely distressing thing for family members and friends to observe, given that they see their loved one fading in front of them.
If left untreated or incorrectly diagnosed, anorexia can be fatal, making it one of the more serious symptoms of uremia to be on high alert for.
