4. Warm Compress
Speaking of using warmth to break up phlegm and blockages, you can also do the same thing by using a warm compress. Simply take a warm, damp flannel or perhaps a rice sock (fill a sock with rice, tie a knot at the end and then put it in the microwave for just a few minutes to heat it up).
This will help you to relax the muscles yet again and will also help to break up the phlegm and mucus via the warmth.
