Cranberry juice has long been revered for the health benefits that it brings to your table (pun intended.) It’s worth noting that, before we move forward with the data here, we are referring to unsweetened varieties of cranberry juice specifically. When it comes to urinary tract infections and cystitis, few juices are more highly recommended than cranberry juice.
When you ingest high dosages of cranberry, it will make it nearly impossible for the infection-causing bacteria to adhere to your urinary tract. This lack of adhesion ensures that no infection will develop.
One study monitored a control group who ingested no cranberry products and compared their health to a separate group who drank 240 ml of cranberry juice each day for a total period of 24 weeks. They found that the control group had far higher odds of developing urinary tract infections and cystitis in comparison to the group who drank the cranberries.
