4. Drinking Water
Drinking a cold glass of water before, after and during a meal might bring you some relief if you are used to struggling with indigestion around meal times. Cold water can cool down your throat and oesophagus, which is sometimes burned and irritated because of the stomach acid pushed upwards when indigestion happens. In most cases, this should be enough – though sometimes you might need to add fruit salts or baking soda to the water to make sure it takes effect and actually manages to soothe the symptoms associated with heartburn.
In very rare cases, the water itself might be the cause of your heartburn – sometimes processing plants add all sorts of things to the water, or in other cases the water is not filtered properly: So, especially when travelling to areas where you are not used to the local water and toxins, rely on bottled water to make sure that it doesn’t affect your digestive health.
