4. A Tight Throat
There are a couple of reasons why someone might experience a tight throat as a symptom when they drink coffee – or, of course, when they suddenly stop. The first is that they might be allergic to something in the coffee, and this might not be the coffee at all: You can be allergic to nuts and have the coffee contain traces of it (especially with, say, a Walnut Latte).
Of course, it’s pretty obvious that you could also be allergic to the milk the coffee contains instead – in that case, just switching to an option like soy should be enough to make sure it never happens again. But caffeine withdrawal can also cause a tight throat – partially because caffeine has a tendency to affect blood flow, blood vessels and blood pressure. Most people feel great after a caffeine fix – and it will have the opposite effect if you suddenly stopped.
