5. Baking Soda and Lemon Paste
This method is similar to the solution we’ve already discussed with the baking soda and cornstarch recipe for a natural deodorant.
The addition of lemon to baking soda provides a potent antiseptic, anti-microbial, and anti-bacterial properties to the paste. Lemons contain “limonoids,” natural plant flavonoids found in the rind of lemons, and are less present in the juice and flesh of the fruit.
Therefore, we recommend you make your lemon juice by peeling off the rind and juicing it to remove the limonoids from the skin. Mix the juiced zest into the baking soda until you form a smooth paste, then apply it to your underarm area.
If you’ve just shaved your armpits, its best to avoid this method, as the citric acid in the juice creates a stinging sensation in the trimmed hair follicles which produces inflammation and a reddening effect – stick to the baking soda and cornstarch recipe.
