5. Discomfort in Wrist and Hand
Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause discomfort in the wrist and palm of the hand while performing everyday tasks. This symptom typically occurs while holding objects like a cell phone or steering wheel.
It can also occur during normal tasks that put pressure on the median nerve like typing on a desk keyboard. Pressure on the median nerve while using the muscles in the hand and wrist to hold onto an object can cause weakness, resulting in mild to severe discomfort from holding everyday objects.
