14 Common Signs & Symptoms of Rubella

Search for Articles Here >>

Rubella is a type of viral infection that’s caused when you come into contact with the rubella virus. Even though the condition is less prevalent today because of the fact that people in most parts of the world have had vaccinations against getting the condition when they were younger, there are still many diagnosed cases of rubella per year – and if you yourself suspect that you might have rubella, starting treatment as soon as possible is vital.

The condition is often also referred to as three-day measles, or as German measles because of the German doctors who first described the condition – but it’s not the same thing as measles, and does not have the same symptoms or incubation period that measles does.

Some of the common symptoms of three-day measles can include a rash, sore throat, and swelling of the glands.

Here are 8 common signs & symptoms of rubella that you might experience.

1. Fever

Fever is one of the first symptoms you’ll experience when you’ve contracted any kind of illness or infection, and it can easily serve as an early warning sign that you have picked up a condition like rubella – or any other general infection depending on your symptoms. A high-grade fever that continues for a long time means that you’re almost certainly sick, but it also means that you should take immediate action to get your body temperature back down to normal.

Even though a fever serves as the body’s natural way to combat infection, a fever can also make you feel worse and it can put a lot of unnecessary stress and tension on your heart.

If you’re experiencing any fever that lasts for a long time, aspirin and paracetamol (or natural forms found in ingredients like willow bark) can be a great help to bringing your fever down. If this doesn’t work, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
