4. Heart Disease
Heart disease can take its toll on the body. People who suffer from different heart diseases may not be getting an adequate blood flow to their kidneys. This can weaken them and cause them to stop working properly. It can also cause the kidney tissue to die and eventually the kidneys themselves. If the kidneys can’t function on their own, the person may require dialysis. If the kidneys are able to survive with a low blood flow, they can become more susceptible to other problems including kidney disease.
Patients who have heart disease are often monitored for other health problems, including kidney disease or kidney failure. Many types of heart disease are manageable. If the problem is under control it is less likely to have an effect on the kidneys. In some cases, the medication used to treat heart disease can have a negative effect on the kidneys.
