5. Insect Repellent and Insect Bite Treatment
Any kind of mild infection or insect bite could benefit from being treated with lavender oil, given its notorious antibacterial properties. The oil is also used is a number of commercially available mosquito repellents, showing that it is capable of fighting the annual onslaught of insect annoyances on all fronts.
If a person is not a particular fan of the scent of lavender oil, any other essential oil could be used as a base ingredient in a mixture, perhaps even doubling the effects of the insect repelling properties, given that many other oils have similar properties.
To use it to its full effect, one drop of lavender oil within a measure of water, or a base oil of your choice can be applied directly to the affected skin. This will soothe and accelerate the healing process. For a natural insect repellent, the oil can be combined with a burning candle, to keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay.
