4. Disinfects Cuts and Bruises
Already highlighted for its relaxation-inducing aromas and stress-reducing properties, another perfect way to put this essential oil to good use is found with its application as a disinfectant on mild cases of skin irritations, minor burns, small wounds and even on acne.
In the treatment of these skin conditions, it can be very effective, given that its anti-inflammatory characteristics keep nasty bacteria and other irritants away from the affected area. It is also expected and probable that a skin ailment will heal more quickly with the use of lavender oil, with many people using it as a failsafe for their kids’ bumps and scrapes, even playfully referring to it as the ‘magic lotion.’
It is pretty magic to be fair, as combining lavender oil with the likes of coconut oil or jojoba oil can make it a very competent healing agent. A note of caution is that pure, undiluted lavender oil can cause irritation for some people, and so mixing it with other oils or water is recommended for the best results.
