3. Fights Infection
With its powerful antiseptic properties, hyssop is the perfect agent to apply topically onto cuts and abrasions in order to prevent them from becoming infected. Often, there is a tendency to clean up a wound and then dress it, the aim being to keep it as dry as possible.
This is usually best practice, however, adding in an additional step can prove beneficial in the healing process and in the infection-fighting plan of action. By infusing hyssop into a paste or a liquid, the infection-fighting properties can be harnessed directly onto the skin, and then once the skin has dried, the dressing can be reapplied.
The use of hyssop to fight infection does not have to be a one-time thing, as the benefits are maintained every time it is used. There have been some studies to show that hyssop is also effective in preventing infection and reinfection of genital herpes.
