4. Leukemia
Leukemia describes the cancer of blood cells. There are several categories of blood cells, including white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. In most cases, leukemia refers to the development of cancer in white blood cells.
Our white blood cells are a critical part of the immune system. These cells protect the body from invasions by pathogens, such as bacteria and viruses. White blood cells also help to clear the body of foreign substances and toxins through the lymphatic system. Patients with leukemia noticed that they’re white blood cells don’t function in a normal way. In most cases, they divide quickly and crowd out other healthy cells.
White blood cells come from the bone marrow; however, there are certain types of white blood cells made in the spleen, lymph nodes, and thymus gland. The white blood cells may cause issues with the thyroid glands production of thyroid hormone, resulting in the onset of bulging eye syndrome.
