5. Constipation occurs with hypomagnesemia.
The body doesn’t get the nutrients that it needs and is causing the constipation. Once the body is able to get magnesium, the person will start making regular bowel movements. Magnesium helps to make potassium and calcium levels at a normal level. Without it, the calcium and potassium levels remain low.
When a person is suffering from constipation it’s not good to take stool softeners or laxatives. When you take them, you’ll feel nauseated because the body isn’t getting enough magnesium. You may start to vomit since the bowel movement is unable to go through the rectum and anus. It has to come out somewhere. The laxative may work, but your blood pressure levels will become low.
In order to make a bowel movement drink plenty of water and eat foods rich in magnesium, including beans, seeds, or fish. In a few hours, your bowels will start moving.
