5. Control Your Breathing
It may sound silly, but breathing in a controlled manner could reduce your nausea. One study was researching various scents used for aromatherapy to try and determine which one was most at reducing nausea in the participants. What surprised the scientists is that even the placebo group saw a significant reduction in both the frequency and severity of nausea that their participants reported.
This led them to believe that it might have been the actual breathing in the substances that helped reduce nausea rather than the substances themselves. In response to these findings, another study was launched to see whether breathing alone could effectively reduce or cure nausea.
The results confirmed the suspicions of the previous study and reported that even without aromatherapy, controlled breathing is able to relieve nausea. The group that used controlled breathing to reduce their nausea reported a 62% reduction — impressive considering the fact that no aromatherapy scents were used.
